Where sun, snow and plus size pistes meet

Using superlatives sparingly is not so easy when it comes to Nassfeld: Carinthia's largest and sunniest ski resort scores with 110 kilometres of pistes, 30 modern lifts, a plus of 100 hours of sunshine compared to the Northern Alps. Nassfeld is also the first "taker" of the often particularly snow-intensive Adriatic lows.
These are dimensions that impress and have made Nassfeld one of Austria’s Top 10 ski resorts for some time now: a network of 110 kilometres of blue, red and black pistes stretches across four high valleys. This ensures variety and a vastness that is unique in Carinthia. Numerous access points to the ski resort and 30 modern lifts guarantee winter sports enthusiasts a swift ascent to the next downhill run. Thanks to regular Adriatic lows and 460 state-of-the-art snow-making systems, Nassfeld is also considered 100% snow-reliable.

To understand why Sun Ski World has such a fascination for winter sports enthusiasts, one must also look at its "soft skills": One of the most obvious characteristics of Nassfeld is its sunny "disposition". On average, there are 100 hours of sunshine more than north of the Alps, putting summit bliss in a special light here. On top of that, the proximity to Italy makes the area a hot tip for anyone who also wants to enjoy a bit of Italian lifestyle and Mediterranean cuisine in winter. Last but not least the resort is bristling with "Nice Surprises". Whether Ski Movie race tracks, the longest floodlit piste in the Alps, countless lounge furniture inviting you to enjoy the panorama or friendly "Buddys" who assist guests with help and advice - many supposedly small gestures make Nassfeld a special winter sports destination.

A large pack of family happiness.
For families, Sun Ski World is a winter adventure park that promises one thing: fun! The youngest children go on a discovery tour in the secured children's areas. All those who are already steady on skis love the "Snake" fun slope. The combination of piste, fun park and cross meanders through the forest across waves, jumps and banked curves. On the cordoned-off SkiMovie race or parallel tracks you can really race downhill and watch a video of your wild ride through the gates afterwards. Thanks to the kicker line, public line and beginner line as well as boxes, rails and wallrides, the snow park offers something for various levels of ability. On top of that, real professionals show "agile creatives" their tricks every Sunday at the free ShredSchool.

Faster. Further. Wider.
Sporty skiers will also be delighted with Nassfeld. 110 kilometres of XXL pistes in blue, red and black make Sun Ski World one of the most diverse ski resorts on the sunny side of the Alps. The extra wide pistes create space for carving turns in XXL radius and are always well groomed thanks to the night-time marathon of the mountain railways. And "off piste"? Heliskiing: freeriders can indulge in the premier class of powder skiing on the Italian side of the ski resort. There couldn’t be a greater feeling of freedom! Impressive powder snow pistes can be accessed already after short ascents or across short cross-country tracks.

Where skiing is pure pleasure.
The immediate proximity to Italy provides a unique culinary "microclimate" at Nassfeld. 25 cosy ski huts and piste restaurants serve an exciting mix of local delicacies and Mediterranean treats. On the Austrian side, the focus is on specialities from regional production and authentic moments of pleasure. Just one downhill run away, original Italian ristoranti invite you to enjoy pizza, pasta, delicious seafood or fresh fish from the Adriatic Sea.
The largest sun terrace in the Alps.
Nassfeld enjoys around 850 hours of sunshine in an average winter. Turning into the largest sun terrace in the Alps, the ski resort radiates a chilled-out atmosphere. In the ski bars, parasols "spring up", countless deckchairs are set up on the terrace and canopied beach chairs that offer a view to the Julian, Carnic and Gailtal Valley Alps can even be found directly along the pistes.

Active variety away from the pistes
Anyone who has crossed off skiing, snowboarding, freeriding and sunbathing on their "must-do" list can look forward to a "freestyle programme" at Sun Ski World. Because away from the pistes, winter sports enthusiasts will find a pristine idyll of nature that invites them to go ski touring or snowshoe hiking.
Cross-country skiers will find 190 kilometres of groomed (high-altitude) tracks at Nassfeld, in the Gailtal Valley, Gitschtal Valley and Lesachtal Valley and at Lake Weissensee. Whether classic, skating or in preparation for the next biathlon - the tracks can be used in every variation.
Attracting winter sports enthusiasts of all ages, nearby Lake Weissensee transforms into Europe's largest natural ice rink every year. It doesn't take much to enjoy pure freedom here: a pair of sharp-edged runners, gloves and some good balance is all you need to get going.
Also, always great fun: a jolly ride on toboggans. Six times tobogganing fun - by day and by night - is available to winter fans in the Nassfeld-Pressegger See region.
And after such an eventful day, it is a pleasure to come back to a world of warmth, water and peace. Many accommodations offer alpine wellness facilities, where you can relax wonderfully!
