Bruneck
The well-known town of Bruneck is situated at the point where the Puster Valley opens out into a wide basin. To the north is the main Alpine ridge, to the south is the world natural heritage site of the Dolomites and in the middle the pulsating life in the historic streets of the Puster Valley’s main town. Bruneck was first documented in the 13th century, and by the late Middle Ages trade, industry and handicrafts had helped the town to prestige and prosperity. For centuries Bruneck has been well known as a popular tourist destination far beyond the region’s borders. Overlooking the town and visible from afar is Bruneck Castle, which houses the Messner Mountain Museum RIPA.
Over the course of the year numerous events and exhibitions will be taking place, more details of which can be found on www.bruneck.com.
With more than 119 km of perfectly groomed slopes* and state-of-the-art lifts, the Kronplatz – Bruneck’s local mountain and South Tyrol’s number one skiing mountain – is an inviting place for visitors to enjoy excellent winter sport. In addition to skiing and snowboarding, cross-country skiing, back-country skiing, ice skating and tobogganing are also on the agenda in the snow-covered, wintry landscape – in short, an extra special winter holiday.
In summer an unbelievably varied natural landscape tempts holidaymakers to enjoy the great outdoors; in particular the nearby mountains are superb for hiking and scrambling. Enjoy the beauty of the Alpine landscape and delight in the views of the craggy Dolomite rock faces. The *Outdoor Center Kronplatz offers the opportunity to experience the unique South Tyrolean mountain scenery together with qualified mountain and mountain bike guides.
And you really ought to plan a shopping trip down Bruneck's picturesque Stadtgasse - a detour that's always well worthwhile!
So, what are you waiting for? Book your holiday in Bruneck at the heart of the picturesque Puster Valley today and look forward to an unforgettable break surrounded by the beauty of the mountains!
